Kinetic Physio FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist?
No. You can book directly with us without a GP referral. Many of our patients come to us privately, but we’re also happy to work alongside your GP or consultant if needed.
How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?
This depends on your condition and goals. Some patients feel better after just 5-6 sessions, while others benefit from only 2-3 . Your physiotherapist will give you a personalised plan after your first assessment.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable clothing that allows easy movement — for example, gym or yoga wear. If we’re assessing your lower back, hips or legs, shorts are helpful.
I’m searching for a physiotherapist near me — are you local?
Yes — our clinic is based in Muswell Hill, with easy access from Highgate, Crouch End, East Finchley, Hampstead and the wider North London area. We also offer online physiotherapy sessions if you can’t get to us in person.
Do you treat women’s health conditions such as postnatal recovery or pelvic floor issues?
Yes. Our specialist women’s health physiotherapists support women through pregnancy, postnatal recovery, menopause, pelvic floor concerns, and Mummy MOT® assessments.
What happens in the first session?
Your first session includes:
A full assessment of your symptoms, lifestyle and goals
A physical examination
A clear treatment plan (hands-on therapy, exercise programme, and advice)
We’ll also answer any questions you have and agree on your next steps.
Can physiotherapy help with back pain or sports injuries?
Absolutely. Physiotherapy is highly effective for musculoskeletal problems like back and neck pain, shoulder issues, knee injuries, and sports-related conditions. Our goal is to get you moving better and back to the activities you love.
Do you offer postnatal checks like the Mummy MOT®?
Yes. We provide full Mummy MOT® assessments, which are specialist postnatal checks to support your recovery, strengthen your pelvic floor and core, and safely return you to exercise.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book online through our website, call us directly, or email us. Same-week and evening appointments are often available.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Yes, we work with most major insurers. Please check with your provider and let us know when booking so we can guide you through the process.
